Winter in Chippewa Lake

Well, winter has settled in to Chippewa Lake, or continues to settle in and there is no end in sight. Temperatures reached a high of 6 degrees today so we thought we would take a trip to the lake to see what's happenin' there. The snow was plowed on the lake (yes, ON THE LAKE) in readiness for today's ice race but alas, no sign of the races yet.
Bo is anxious to start work on the Otter Room at the cottage, but the only way to the cottage is across the lake, so he has been traipsing back and forth from East Bay to the cottage. Hope you enjoy the pics...

Celtic Spirituality

Last weekend our church had a retreat (we had to drive a whole two miles to camp brethren heights). The topic was Celtic Spirituality which embodies these seven elements.

1. Love of nature and the physical enviroment.

2. Love of learning, love of words and the precision of language.

3. Yearning to explore the unknown, to travel.

4. Love of silence and solitude.

5. Past, present and future, all times are connected.

6. Appreciation of ordinary life.

7. "Soul friend" relationships valued (aman cara).

Cindy and I decided we're spiritually Celtic (Cindy is from the Dutch side.) We also discovered a name for the next grandchild. "OTTER" One of the patron saints from Celtic tradition is Saint Cuthbert (Cuddy) who had a habit of praying throughout the night on the north Atlantic coast. Sea Otter would swim up and wrap themselves around his feet to keep them warm.

So this summer there will be an Otter Room at the cottage. We figure "if we built it he/she will come".
